Kristne Woolsey | The
Woolsey Team | On The Boards | Media & Exhibits
Woolsey Studio is more than Kristine Woolsey. She sets the vision for the
project but it
comes into being through the efforts of an incredibly talented
and capable team of
employees and regular consultants:
Vision Keepers
This company was started with the belief that architecture is more than creating objects
or making drawings to get a permit. We believe that the design of experiences rather than
objects can provide a home, a business, or an organization with the physical spaces to
make their visions real. The vision keepers are responsible for making sure that we only
take on projects that will benefit from our ability to design experience and that once we
begin working on a project, experience stays the driving factor.
Kristine Woolsey, Architect
Kristine’s full professional background is available through this link. Her professional
experience includes residential, restaurants, multi-family, office, retail, museums and
other project types that benefit from the design of experience. She is responsible for
setting or clarifying the overall direction of each project with the project team and then
collecting their input and confirming their adherence to the vision as the project
progresses. She is responsible for hiring and training the team, finding those special
people with amazing talents that add to what we offer.
Daniel Burrell, Marketing and Client Development
Daniel has a degree from Arizona State University in marketing and has been with
Woolsey Studio since 1999. Early in his association with WSI, he really really “got” the
idea of designing experience and has been a disciple ever since. He takes the initial
phone calls and explains our process to make sure that each project we take on is the
right fit. He is the center of client communications, and brings our work to the attention
of print and broadcast media so that potential clients can see what we offer.
Project Managers
Each project is assigned a project manager who is responsible for guiding the client
through the process, contributing to the overall design vision, organizing the work,
coordinating consultants, development of the construction documents and details,
and responding to questions during construction.
Joe DeCenzo, Project Manager
Joe was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, and joined Woolsey Studio in
early 2007. He is a very talented designer with a background in multi-family, commercial,
and historic work. He is our senior project manager and has overall responsibility for
directing the team and mentoring our other staff. His strength is in the creation of beautiful
forms and beautiful spaces that work technically.
John Medcalf, Project Manager
John graduated from Arizona State University and joined Woolsey Studio in early 2005.
His architectural experience has focused on residential work, and he also has a background in retail management. He has worked construction in the USA and participated in a volunteer school building project in Africa. His gift is having a real knack for being inventive with materials and assemblies during design and construction.
Lila Cohen, Project Manager
Lila has an architectural degree from the University of Arizona, and joined the firm in 2006. She has a strong background in graphic design and ran her own graphic design company in Hawaii before returning to architecture. Her strength is in her clarity of thought. Because of this, her projects are very well organized, her technical systems are always well integrated, and her designs are rigorous which gives them a wonderful visual consistency.
Interior Designers
Each project is assigned a degreed interior designer. That designer is responsible for guiding the client through the process of selecting every product and finish required in the project. They are also responsible for preparation of product specifications, creation of interior construction documents and details, selection and specifications of furnishings, response to questions during construction, and supervision of any furniture, art, or accessory installation.
Rhonda Robertson-Trollmann, Interior Designer
Rhonda is an accredited interior designer with a degree from SCC. She began working at Woolsey Studio in 2002, left for a bit and then came back in 2006. Her background is hospitality and residential, and her special talent is an ability to find that just right combination of colors, fabrics, and products to create a smooth visual composition that is exquisite in its aesthetic composition.
Megan Smith, Interior Designer
Megan has an interior design degree from Arizona State University and joined Woolsey Studio in 2005. Her professional background is hospitality and residential. The gift she brings to our team is her creativity, her ability to dream up things that have never been seen before. She is an amazing source of ideas, and inspires our team to greater levels of creativity.
